Enlarging Your Bathroom

Posted on May 24, 2019

A common issue with several NYC bathroom remodeling plans is the size of the bathroom; namely, trying to increase it. Plenty of people are under the impression that the only way to increase their space is to tear down the walls. While that really will increase the space, there are other ways to improve your bathroom’s space without having to rip down the walls.

Lighting

How you decide to light your bathroom will have a big impact on your NYC bathroom remodeling. Lighting can alter your perception of space and make the room seem larger. This works best if you also have a natural source of light coming from a window. Rather than having one or two strong lights for your bathroom, you should have several small light sources in key locations.

Mirrors

When placed properly, mirrors can truly improve your surroundings in many ways.  Mirrors not only reflect the walls but also the light that hits it – an important thing to remember when placing lighting.

Color & Tiles

Choose lighter, warmer colors for your NYC bathroom remodeling as this enlarges any space. If you are using tiles, use large tiles along with smaller ones to make certain areas look larger.

Storage

Rather than using cabinets, you may want to opt for long thin shelves placed above the toilet to conserve, as well as maximize space.

Size

This one is very important – if you have a small bathroom, buy small fixtures. Not only do they take up less space but they also make the room itself seem larger than it really is. Just be sure that the fixtures are still big enough to be convenient to use.
