Posted on May 17, 2019

Those making NYC kitchen remodeling plans normally have some difficulty when choosing a kitchen worktop. These are the most used fixtures in the kitchen and will have to withstand a lot of abuse ranging from burning hot pans, constant knife chopping, and cleaning agents, just to name a few.

Finding the right work surface for your kitchen should be one of your top priorities when making NYC kitchen remodeling plans.

Hardwood

All things considered, not many materials can compare to the look and feel that hardwood can offer. Hardwood worktops can blend in almost all NYC kitchen design styles. Hardwood counters are very durable and are easy to restore back to prime condition should it get too many scratches or dings.

To take proper care of hardwood worktops, you will need to clean up any spills as soon as you can, even if you’ve applied waterproof sealing. On that note, you may have to reapply sealant on a regular schedule.

A good choice of hardwood would be Iroko. These are normally used for docks or harbors and are more than ideal for dealing with large amounts of water constantly.

Laminate

Found in a few kitchens, laminate’s biggest advantage would be its low price. One other advantage of laminate counters is that they can imitate the look of almost any kind of material. Laminate, however, is not as durable as other available kitchen worktops. Laminate worktops are waterproof.

Laminate worktops are very versatile and can be designed in various ways allowing it to easily blend in majority of NYC kitchen remodeling plans.
