Creating a Cozy Breakfast Nook

Posted on May 31, 2019

A breakfast nook or kitchen banquet is a great addition to any kitchen. It’s ideal for those days when you don’t feel like setting up your main dining table and you just want to eat in the comfort of your kitchen. It’s also a great dining solution for apartments, as it can serve as your main dining area. If you’re in the process of kitchen remodeling, there are several styles that you can use as inspiration in creating your own cozy breakfast nook right in your kitchen.

Use Your Kitchen Island

It’s not uncommon for the kitchen island to be used as a dining area. It’s actually the easiest solution if you already have an island. You simply need to add bar stools that are high enough so you can eat comfortably on the island. What you can do to still keep some counterpace for meal preps is to choose a kitchen island with an elevated area so you can use that area for dining and the rest of the space for prepping meals.

However, if you’re not too keen on the idea of eating on the kitchen island, you can always incorporate a kitchen banquet as part of the island. Instead of adding bar stools on one side, you can add a table and some seats so you can eat comfortably.

Create a Booth

If you really want a cozy spot for dining, you can have your kitchen remodeling contractor build a small booth for you where you can place a table and built-in seats on each side. It’s best if you can have a window next to that spot. Bay windows are ideal for this style as well, as you won’t have to build a booth anymore, you can simply tuck in a table and some built-in seats on the recessed area.

Corner Nooks

Take advantage of one corner of your kitchen by having seats built-in there. You can always add temporary seating during times when you have to accommodate more people.

The key to creating a cozy breakfast nook is to make sure that you have enough seating for the amount of people in your household. If you plan to add permanent seating, it’s best if you work with a kitchen remodeling expert so you can have it built-in properly.
